Under its RamRaya banner, Sama-Sama Riang Berganda campaign, Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus's Malaysia) embraces the essence of Ramadan with charity, community support and voluntary effort at four of its locations across the country.

Running its third annual #KitakanJiran Ramadan Cookout with long-time charity partner, Food Aid Foundation, more than 100 Lotus’s #KitakanJiran volunteers contributed their time preparing and distributing 2,000 iftar meals to welfare homes, surau and mosques in Kota Bharu, Seberang Jaya, Melaka and Shah Alam. The cookout is made even more meaningful this year with the participation of brand partners like Adabi Consumer Industries, Kara Marketing, Coca-Cola Companies, Harold’s Bread, Empire Sushi, HomePro, Fun Kids, Kings Confectionary, Tealive, M&M Playland, G Accessories and Malaysia’s own animation company Animonsta Studios Sdn Bhd (Animonsta).

Azliza Azmel, Lotus’s Malaysia Corporate Services Executive Director said, “This Ramadan, we aimed to share Ramadan’s blessings by bringing joy to those less fortunate and help develop a sense of gratitude and community responsibility amongst our colleagues. The cookout this year is even more heartwarming as our colleagues from stores and Head Office took the opportunity to sadaqah their time to prepare and share nourishing iftar meals from scratch for 200 underprivileged children from six welfare homes and a school”.

“I also take this opportunity to thank the many brands that joined us in bringing delight to these children and homes through their generous contribution of products and vouchers totaling up to more than RM28,000”.

In addition to the #KitakanJiran cookout, the retailer’s first collaboration with local animation company, Animonsta created a space and opportunity for the children to interact and take part in activities like meet & greet with BoBoiBoy and Mechamato, BoBoiBoy Galaxy Run, paper basket weaving and batik painting. Making Ramadan extra special this year, together with Adabi, Lotus’s volunteers also cooked and gave away 2,400 bowls of bubur lambuk to customers at its store in Melaka and Shah Alam.

At its final cookout and iftar with community in Shah Alam today, the retailer welcomed over 40 children from Pertubuhan Kasih Bestari, a center dedicated to motivating and raising young teens to reach their fullest potential and to become useful members of society. With the #KitakanJiran Ramadan Cookout, Lotus’s and its brand partners had also benefited children from homes like Rumah Tunas Harapan and Rumah Anak Yatim Darul Kautsar (Kelantan), Pusat Jagaan Permata Kasih Mengkuang, Madrasah Tahfiz Darul Ukasha (MTDU), and Pusat Jagaan Nasyiatul Aisyiyah (Penang), along with underprivileged children from SMK Bukit Katil (Melaka).

Building upon the #KitakanJiran Ramadan Cookout, volunteers from 15 Lotus's stores across Peninsular Malaysia will extend the spirit of Ramadan by connecting with neighboring mosques and suraus. Through these efforts, they will contribute food and drinks for both Moreh (evening meal) and Khatam Quran (Quran completion) ceremonies throughout the holy month.

Earlier this month, Lotus's Malaysia launched its 10-week Sama-Sama Riang Berganda campaign, offering customers exciting deals and rewards until 24 April 2024.
