Education
plays a key role in realising Malaysia’s aspirations to become a developed
nation. Furthermore, it also supports the effort to reduce social inequality.
In line with our parent company, Charoen Pokhphand Group’s SDG 4 Education
& Inequality Reduction goal, we at Lotus’s Malaysia not only focus on Bring
Little Delight Every Day to our customers but we will continue to care for the
future of our communities, planet, and the generations to come through our
#KitakanJiran initiatives.
Since 2016, together with our partner the PINTAR Foundation, we have adopted 63 underprivileged schools across Peninsular Malaysia and formulated various programmes to enrich the lives of the children in our adopted schools. To date, we have positively impacted up to 57,000 underprivileged students through the #KitakanJiran Lotus’s Adopted School programme.
As part of the Lotus’s SMART Up Programme, we partnered with VSTECS Berhad donated 50 laptops to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seksyen 17, Shah Alam and refurbished its computer laboratory. The school’s computer laboratory was previously in poor condition where a few lights were not working due to short circuits, over 40 CPU computers were not functioning, and walls that needed painting and required major transformation overall.
With a new computer laboratory, students and teachers from SK Seksyen 17 are able to improve their digital literacy as well as enjoy an innovative learning environment. Microsoft Malaysia Education Partner was also invited to the event to introduce the Modern classroom method and expose the schoolchildren to Minecraft learning.
Speaking at the
event, Azliza Azmel, Executive Director, Corporate Services concluded that we
believed that our duty extends far beyond bringing delight every day to our
customers. As a neighbourly-spirited company, the #KitakanJiran initiative is
an element of our SMART values where we have the responsibility in making
positive impacts in the community and by investing in school facilities, we are
helping them improve the learning experience and quality while inculcating
positive influence on the attitudes and behaviours of both students and
teachers.
