Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has something for everyone this upcoming Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration through its ‘Ong Sana, Ong Sini’ campaign running from now until 24 February 2021.
Coming off from a very challenging 2020 riddled by pandemics, movement restrictions and its economic spillovers, the campaign asks customers to take charge of their own destiny by throwing out the misfortunes (buang suey) and create their own good fortune (ong). This is also very in line with the Chinese Year of the Ox whose dominant personality traits are strength and determination.
“We know that this CNY is very much anticipated by many as a way to start over from last’s year challenges, which have unfortunately affected many negatively either economically or health-wise. Because of this, we developed our ‘Ong Sana, Ong Sini’ campaign to give value to our customers by offering variety and keeping our prices down especially on key lines for CNY,” said Tesco Customer Director Vivian Yap.
“We want to make it possible for our customers to enjoy traditional CNY customs and family reunions, be it virtually, with scrumptious, delightful food at the center of it all. Customs and culture are more important than ever now as people find ways to still celebrate together or apart amidst our current Covid-19 situation and especially with certain states under the Movement Control Order 2.0.”
No CNY will be complete without the Reunion Dinner, whether it will be together under one roof, or together virtually. To make this Reunion Dinner one to remember, Tesco is bringing back several CNY affordable luxuries such as frozen Canadian lobster (RM49.88 per piece), Australian Banana prawns (RM38.88 per/kg), frozen Dragon Tiger Grouper (RM32.88 per fish), abalone for RM3.88 per piece and many more.
Also available are Tesco Own Brand (TOB) items which are almost 90 per cent produced and manufactured in Malaysia. By purchasing TOB products, customers are not just able to gain value for their Ringgit, but are also supporting the local suppliers that may have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“One of the values that we truly believe in at Tesco is that Every Little Helps Makes a Big Difference, and in keeping our prices affordable without compromising on the quality in our Own Brand products, we are offering our customers value for their Ringgit and keeping our local suppliers in business,” continued Yap.
All of these offerings are made available both in stores and through Tesco’s grocery home shopping platform, Tesco Online.
‘Ong Sana, Ong Sini’ on Facebook Live Sale
For the second year running, Tesco is holding a CNY 12 Hours Facebook Live sale on 22 January 2020 from 10am to 10pm. The event will see Tesco highlighting key ‘Ong Sana, Ong Sini’ lines as well as auctioning special products at great prices for customers to own. However, to know what the products are, customers must tune into the show themselves.
Hosted by well-known local celebrities such as emcee and former radio announcer, Wayne Thong; viral social media content creator, Tata Wanqian; actor and influencer, Bernard Hiew; and with a special guest appearance by Feng Shui Master, Datuk Joey Yap to help us prepare for 2021.
“We had great success with our first Facebook Live event last year where we saw thousands of customers tuning in to win grand prizes and secure good deals. In celebrating the Year of the Ox, we will also have Feng Shui Master, Datuk Joey Yap on board for 2021 zodiac predictions,” said Yap. “The ‘Ong Sana, Ong Sini’ Facebook Live also enables customers to have fun and shop in the safety and security of their homes,” she continued.
