Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) a leading hypermarket chain in Malaysia, today announced that it has completed the rebranding of 62 former Tesco stores and its adoption of technology platforms to deliver every day SMART delights to consumers.

Its official National Launch was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Malaysia Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs at Lotus’s Ampang today. Lotus’s also introduced its new Lotus’s online platform, combining both its loyalty programme and e-commerce platform into a single application, providing consumers with a delightful phygital experience in shopping.

“It is our vision to increasingly delight our customers with greater convenience and a more personalized shopping experience. By combining both the MyLotus’s loyalty programme and the Lotus’s online platform, the new Lotus’s App will allow customers to shop with us online and instantaneously collect points and redeem their rewards,” said Kenneth Chuah, President of Lotus’s Malaysia.

“With advancement in information technology, we will be better equipped with data to understand our customers’ needs and customize promotions and rewards to individuals even within the same household for a more personalized shopping experience.”

The MyLotus’s loyalty programme can also be enjoyed by customers who shop at their physical stores.

Lotus’s currently has its Scan & Shop app to enable customers to scan their items themselves in stores to allow customers to track their spending and manage their budgets. The dedicated lanes for Scan & Shop shoppers provide customers with a fast checkout, shortening queuing time.

Customers can also enjoy a fast and safe shopping experience at 28 Lotus’s stores with its fully cashless Self-Service Checkout Counters that accepts debit and credit card payments as well as e-wallets like Boost, kiplePay, GrabPay, Alipay, MCash, MAE, ShopeePay, Touch ‘n Go and UnionPay.

At the launch, Lotus’s also stated that the company is aspiring to be the most sustainable retailer through its #KitakanJiran community spirit and its environmental efforts. Recently, Lotus’s entered into its second Power Purchase Agreement with NEFIN Group to install solar PV panels on the rooftop of 12 more stores and one of its Distribution Centre in Simpang Pulai, Perak, which will bring its total facilities to run on clean energy to 28. The company is expected to reduce its carbon emission by approximately 14,461 tonnes annually through these installations by August 2022.

Lotus’s first made its debut in Malaysia in February 2021 with the transformation of three former Tesco stores. Earlier this year, the company had introduced two more new stores, Lotus’s Pulai Hartamas in Ipoh, Perak and Lotus’s Bandar Puteri Jaya in Sungai Petani, Kedah totaling its operating stores to 64 across peninsular Malaysia.
